Wow! 2025 is gone and nothing more than a memory. Now each of us has an opportunity to begin anew in 2026. This is the time we all need to be setting Godly goals a brand new year.
In two weeks, I will be 82 years old, and that in itself is a miracle. As I enter a New Year, I am thankful for the many years God has given me, hopefully to be a blessing and encouragement to my family, my Church, and my WordPress Friends. Here are six Godly Resolutions I have for 2026.
First:
l. To pray more, setting aside more extended moments with God, giving Him my requests and supplications, while listening to His “still small voice.” In this New Year, I long to “devote myself to prayer, being watchful and thankful,”[Colossians 4:2], “Rejoicing always, [and] praying without ceasing. [I Thessalonians 5: l6-18]
My second heart’s desire is,
2. To read more from the Bible, to discover more treasures from God’s Word. I am beginning my Bible studies this New Year with I Peter, reading a chapter at a time, making notes, and memorizing verses, letting the Holy Spirit illuminate, truths to “hide in my heart, that I might not sin against God..[Psalm ll9:ll]
Third,
3. In this New Year, I pray I will give cheerfully to God’s Work here and around the world. I believe this giving first begins with the tithe. At 16, with my first job, I began to give a tenth of my income to my Church. Now, 65 years later, I can testify that I have never been broke and God has always provided for all my needs.
I also resolve to give above my tithe to ministries such as “The Billy Graham Association,” “Joni and Friends,” “The Salvation Army, and “Desiring God.” In 2026, I pray, dear Lord, to be generous in my giving.
Fourth,
4. To be a person willing to “Stop, Look, and Listen,” to the hurting, by loving them and sharing Jesus. I pray that as God places “People who need the Lord,” in my path, I will be a source of blessing and encouragement.
Fifth,
5. I pray I will take more time, praising God in Worship, listening to Christian music on my CDs, the radio, YouTube, and in singing hymns at my church. I pray I will be able to attend more gospel concerts in this new year and to be a part of the praise and worship of “Gold City Quartet,” “Tribute Quartet,” and the “Kingsmen Quartet.” I also plan to attend more concerts given by the Choir and Orchestra of Southern College, in my hometown of Collegedale, Tennessee.
And, I pray in this New Year,
6. To be, ”resolved to know nothing…except Jesus Christ and Him crucified,”[I Corinthians 2:2] ...to, “know Him, and the power of His resurrection. [Philippians 3:l0]”
Happy New Year, my beloved friends. I pray your New Year will be filled with a sense of anticipation, a sense of faith, and a deep conviction of hope…
“For there are epiphanies yet to dawn on your horizon, showing you even brighter excellencies of Jesus, and more astounding beauties of His gospel.”[Joni Erickson Tada] —————————————
